It was time to leave isolation to attempt a social distancing visit to Maple View... we NEEDED the ice cream. After checking with the website to ensure they were open for drive up service, we arrived at 5:30 PM (they closed that Monday 5/11/20 at 6PM). The process was actually faster than our previous trip inside the business. This is how it went - There were two lines of cars served by a masked dairy hop coming near your car to take your order. Then she retreats to make and deliver your treats and other dairy products. The process was actually faster than our previous trip inside the business. Everyone, patrons and servers alike, were patient and observed all Covid protocols to ensure safety.
The best parts? The ice cream, the view and the company. The Laney ordered a 2 scoop cup with strawberry and banana, I ordered coffee and butter pecan when informed Carolina Crunch was sold out. We also ordered a quart of whole milk. We joined other cars parked across the street to watch the sun sink low in the sky make the 6" high corn shimmer in a neon green so bright the 90's would have been proud. Families were tailgating with ice cream delightfully eaten first and dinner following a distance second. An idea that Laney and I will be sure to do on our NEXT visit to Maple View Farm.
