Review: The Golden Pig, Cary NC

Updated: May 20, 2020

If you want Korean feel good food with all the love from people who care about making sure your meal is delicious, this is your place.

I was excited to introduce Laney to this unassuming location off Chatham Street in Cary. My family found it several years back and make the 22 minute drive from Holly Springs eagerly any time it is suggested for a meal. We've never had a meal that wasn't awesome. My children used to love the Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimbap, but last night Shannon tried the Kimchi Chigae a kimchi stew with pork and tofu (pictured. She fell in love with the Golden Pig all over again. I typically get the Maeun Galbi Tang, short rib stew with vegetables and clear noodles, but ordered the Champong, spicy seafood stew (pictured), instead. Laney chose the Korean Pork Cutlet. We all enjoyed the fried Mandoo, pork and vegetable dumplings, and assorted complementary "pickles" as shared dishes. I would also recommend the chicken wings and Bulgogi. We just didn't have room for all those dishes last night as our party was just three.

The service was fast, friendly and dedicated to correctness. Our server was training and the server who oversaw her corrected the placement of the eating utensils and napkins. Our glasses were never more than 1/2 empty and the finished plates were cleared away quickly so we could continue our conversation. I highly recommend the Golden Pig for lunch as well as dinner any time you find yourself near it!
